music: the long winters - "scared straight"
|
as i sit alone on a couch in my friend's house, i feel my hand grow cold almost instantly. no. it didn't fall asleep. yet, it was the only time i was there that being there alone wasn't creepy.
"Washington’s on the wire I’m in the middle of speaking And you’re under the gun Seething, leave it to the lone nut It’s unappealing in someone so young Plaintive, you’re feeling so washed up And you mean it when you say you’re done Five lanes of freeway But it’s all gone dark You called to say you’re gonna run Well, Can you wait? Can you stand it? Are you brave or are you scared straight? She didn’t want you to: Speak right, be strong, act nice, take so long Call time, seem tired, leave mad, get so wired Maybe you belong to someone Maybe you have finally met them Maybe smoke belongs in the sky Maybe I hate it when you cry You were hurt so you got hard You were cursed and scolded and scared You were searched for, then ignored You want to burn the liars? You’ll set us both on fire You’re faking, so I’m pretend sleeping Waiting for this to be fun It’s true little miss mean mini-bar guard We’re gonna have to try something new Let me breath fire down on you" |

LYRICZ WEEEEE!
'standing in the dark outside the house breathing the cold and sterile air well I was thinking how it must feel to see that little light and watch it as it disappears and fades into and fades into the night
so I know you're going pretty soon radiation sore throat got your tongue magic markers tattoo you and show it whare to aim and strangers break their promises you won't feel any you won't feel any pain
and the streets are jammed with cars rockin' their horns to race to the wire of the unfinished line
thought that I'd forget all about the past but it doesn't let me run too fast and I just wanna stand outside and know that this is right and this is true and I will not fade into fade into the night
standing here in the dark
see this watch she gave me? well it still ticks away the days I'm climbing back for me
the medication's wearing off gonna hurt not a little, a lot keep on tickin' you're not lickin' me
step on a crack break your mother's heart red light green light black suicide e-mail do not delete plug it back in the jack start to be what they want you to be and you see yourself as they see you
sunsrise at the corner of sunset and alvarado I think what the hell do I do now watch the day disintegrate so I can stay up late and wait
see this watch she gave me? well it still ticks away
I was at a funeral the day I realised I wanted to spend my life with you Sitting down on the steps at the old post office The flag was flying at half-mast And I was thinkin' 'bout how everyone is dying And maybe its time to live
I don't know, where we're going I don't know what we'll do
Walked into the Thrif-tee Saw a man with the hollow eyes who didn't give me all my change But it didn't bother me this time 'cause I know I've only got this moment And it's good I went to the gas station Old woman honked her horn Waiting for me to fix her car
I don't know, where we're going I don't know what we'll do
Laying in bed tonight Im was thinking and listening to all the dogs and the sirens and the shots And how a careful man tries to dodge the bullets While a happy man takes a walk
And maybe it's time to live'

| classic dream from the other night. |

i met my great grandfather for the first time ever in my dream. he came and sat on the couch and i sat indian style on the ground in front oh him. he was dressed in all black, had a thick mustache and wore a snazzy 1930s hat. i remember getting to ask him all sorts of questions about life and life after it. it was euphoric. i woke up and didn't speak for the longest time. it was all still sinking in, even though the only question and answer i remember fully was "what good qualities do you see in me that remind me of you?" he replied: "you got them all when i left." now, this may be just a "dream," but as far as mental health is concerned, it was a great to be rejuvenated from the toll of everyday life. |

i fell in love with a girl named rocio. we had so much fun together, she changed faces throughout our time together, until she finally died. needless to say, i was devestated. later i searched for her name on google to find details of what had happened to her. i found this. http://www.andalucia.com/festival/rocio.htm |

alas, the weekend has come to a close and tomorrow i have to go back to work. that's right, back to picking up the fifth graders on the van. working with kids is so stressful and uniquely rewarding. it's quite possibly the best job ever.
i am practicing with a new band from virginia, wednesday, it should be interesting...but probably not.
also, i am digging the cold front, it's a nice taste of the fall to come. cold weather rocketh thy socks. |

mars will be the closest it's been since neanderthals walked the earth, on august 27, i'm pretty excited. considering....it's still not that big. f'real yo, mars, i wanna see some bling bling action. maybe, i just need some 3D glasses....but i don't feel like paying 6 dollars to watch spy kids 3D game over. i was really excited about seeing it at first, then i heard from numerous sources that it blew. i was deeply saddened. aight. enough jibba jabba. peace out...fools! |

tonight, i sat and talked outside with a girl i knew from high school. we dated one time four years ago and it was kind of nostalgic. except, she used to be this really fun out-going girl, and now she just seems overcome with everything that is wrong in the world. it sort of stained my way of viewing life for a bit, even now. we talked about the most inane things and commented on how chewing too much gum makes your stomach growl. it was fun, but i didn't leave with an optimistic glow like i usually do after having a good conversation with a girl. it was more a morose understanding that life isn't as clean and plesant as we would like to sometimes think. this has struck something inside of me; what, i am not sure. why? is also a good question.
sorry, lj, for neglecting you. but if i wasn't away from you sometimes i would have nothing to write about. |

i have, of late, acquired a decent sleeping schedule. i go to sleep between the hours of 8-10p.m. this is a schedule that would make an elderly person jealous. however, this has taken a toll on being social at night, it is a small price to pay. i am up with the chickens and feel like a million bucks, so it has been a pleaure. when i have something worth writing about, you'll have the chance to read it first. later jiggas. |

WELL, IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF LJ IN ALL CAPS. I WAS SIMPLY CHATTING ON THE PHONE A MOMENT AGO, WITH MY DEAR LJ FRIEND PANYA, WHEN A BAT SWOOPED DOWN AND NARROWLY MISSED GIVING ME RABIES. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? I AM STANDING THERE, MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS, TALKING ON THE PHONE, AT THE SWEET ASS HOUR OF 5 IN THE MORNING.....WHEN DRACULA IN WINGED-FORM DECIDES HE WANTS TO RUN CIRCLES AROUND MY TORSO LIKE A FUCKING HYPERACTIVE, SEVEN YEAR-OLD, TRACK STAR. I MEAN SERIOUSLY BRAH...WTF? ANYWAY, I REALLY RESPECT ROOSTERS, THEY GET UP BEFORE IT EVEN STARTS GETTING LIGHT OUTSIDE SO THEY CAN DO THE WORLD A FAVOR, BY GIVING A FREE WAKE UP CALL. HOW SWEET IS THAT? THEY ARE THE BEST WINGED ANIMALS...*GIVES THE BAT A MENACING STARE* IN RETROSPECT, I DIDN'T ACTUALLY MAKE IT TO GOODWILL YESTERDAY DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WILL BE LEFT UNNAMED. TODAY I WILL GO JOB HUNTING, EVEN THOUGH I DON'T WANT TO BE "WORKING FOR THE MAN." I GUESS "WORKING FOR THE MAN" IS STILL BETTER THAN "TALKING TO THE HAND," BUT I HAVEN'T DECIDED YET. |

I AM GOING TO BUY EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE OLD BLACK LADY THAT RUNS THE PLACE! IT'S GONNA BE HELLA SWEET! ALSO, I THINK I AM HITTING AN EMOTIONAL PLATEAU. I DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP ANYMORE, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH I AM SATISFIED ENOUGH WITH LONG DRIVES WITH MY FRIENDS CAFFIENE, AND NICOTINE. THEY ARE GOOD PALS AND I AM ADDICTED TO BOTH OF THEM. I GUESS LOYALTY HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY BEST ATTRIBUTE AND ACHILLES HEEL. :/ |
